RIBA South Award Winner!

The Warehouse development has received several commendations, and most recently announced as a RIBA South Award Winner!

The Judges said:

‘The most significant achievement has been making the main hall fit for public inhabitation while maintaining the historic character and texture of the original building fabric. This has been accomplished through an economy of means: retaining existing fixtures and fittings; leaving previous remedial work on show; restricting new architectural interventions to a minimum; and preserving the tactile qualities of the original building fabric’

TreadgoldFish

Local Portsmouth artist Pete Codlng has been busy creating the TreadgoldFish as part of a local response to the war on plastics. Using stock metal from Treadgolds, Pete constructed the enormous metal fish in Treadgolds courtyard, with portsea residents and community goups helping with some of the fish scales.

Initially located at Gunwharf Quays for the Southsea Food Festival, TreadgoldFish can be seen around the city, where everyone is encourgaed to ‘fill-it’ with their empty plastic bottles!

Phase 2 Funding Granted

The next phase of redeveloping Treadgolds is now officially underway with the recent grant approval from Power to Change and the local CIL Fund. These grants will enable the large Warehouse space to be brought back into community use, with the addition of accessible toilets and a new mezzanine meeting room.

Restoration of the street frontage has already started, in preparation for the main warehouse development works which are soon to follow.
